Harvest happiness: New UH green onion promises easier home growing

Oʻahu home gardeners are invited to a “Green Onion Release, Harvest and Share Day.” on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa’s Urban Garden Center in Pearl City.

The UH Mānoa's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR) will unveil its new CTAHR-Poamoho Green Onion. This unique variety propagates by division (splitting) instead of seeds, offering an easier and more reliable growing experience for gardeners of all levels.

Parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged. Please wear shoes, bring water, and be prepared for rain or shine. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult supervisor.
