Celebrating Inoa ʻĀina: Hawaiian Place Names & Hawaiian History Month
In honor of Hawaiian History Month, Our Kakaʻako invites the public to a live-streamed presentation about Kakaʻako’s and O‘ahu’s past and Hawaiian place names as told through oli (chant), mele (song), and mo‘olelo (stories) by esteemed cultural practitioner and kumu hula, Manu Boyd. Journey through time while paying tribute to Hawaiʻi’s last reigning monarch Queen Lili‘uokalani in celebration of her 183rd birthday. Plus, the public is encouraged to test their Hawaiian history knowledge in an online quiz posted on the Our Kakaʻako website from September 18-30. Those who complete the quiz can enter to win drawing prizes, including Our Kakaʻako logo wear or a $50 gift card from Highway Inn. Winners will be announced on social media.
