Astronaut Ellison Onizuka Science Day at UHH

The Onizuka Memorial Foundation, the Onizuka family, PISCES, the Hawaii Science and Technology Museum, and Canada France Hawai’i Telescope is bringing Astronaut Ellison Onizuka Science Day back to Hawaiʻi Island for the first time since 2020 on January 24, 2026! This free public event will be held at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo campus, and students in grades 3-12 (with an adult) and teachers are welcome to register for hands-on workshops at this link: https://pacificspacecenter.com/onizuka-science-day/

The schedule for the day can be found on the website, as well as the full list of workshops. The opening assembly will feature an Astronaut, sponsored by American Savings Bank, as well as a Hawaiʻi-based scientist. Lunches will be provided for registered keiki, provided by KTA Superstores. Food trucks will be available for adults. Additionally, there will be interactive booths and a VEX IQ Robotics Tournament, run by Waiākea Intermediate, happening concurrently in the library lanai and campus center plaza. The closing assembly will feature fin science demonstrations.
