A Hawai'i State Art Museum docent guides Kalihi Elementary kids through the galleries

Every year, the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts provides standards based art experiences for hundreds of elementary school students.  They do it through the Art Bento program which sends artists into classrooms, and welcomes students into the Hawai’i State Art Museum.  HPR’sNoeTanigawa was there for a recent visit.

During the 2013-2014 school year, Art Bento serviced 107 classes (approximately 2472 students from 14 schools). The number of schools can vary; 110 classes per year fills current program capacity.  Twenty schools applied for SY2014-2015.

Find out more about the State Foundation’s Art Bento Program, and follow the link to apply for next year.
