Inland Empire: California's Desert Expansion

In the first in a three-part series on California's Inland Empire, NPR's Carrie Kahn reports that while the economic recovery sputters around the country, this bastion of suburbia east of Los Angeles is booming. The housing market and robust economy continue to draw people by the millions, ultimately pushing the affordable housing even further east and north, over the mountains and into the desert.
