Former Hawai?i Governor Defends OHA

Wikimedia Commons

A critical management audit of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs is continuing to ripple. The office has no comment about a possible FBI probe. The OHA Board met in an executive session earlier today to talk about the employment contract of CEO Kamana?opono Crabbe.

OHA told The Conversation that Crabbe is on leave until the end of the month, but would not say why or how long he has been out. Former Hawai?i governor John Waihe?e helped establish OHA in 1978 and talked with The Conversation's Catherine Cruz about the agency and the audit.

Catherine Cruz is the host of The Conversation. Originally from Guam, she spent more than 30 years at KITV, covering beats from government to education. Contact her at ccruz@hawaiipublicradio.org.
