Community meetings on Hawai?i County's General Excise Tax bill are set for this week.The County Council is considering a measure that would raise the Big Island's GET surcharge to a one-half percent - or half a penny for every dollar.
West Hawaii Today reported Mayor Harry Kim asked the County Council to approve the measure last week - saying "I have no other choice except this on the table."
