19-year-old allegedly beats mother to death on Farrington Highway

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after allegedly beating a 38-year-old woman to death Tuesday night. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports she was his mother.

Honolulu police officers responding to a witness report of the attack at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday said they found the woman unresponsive on Farrington Highway.

Emergency Medical Services said it was unable to resuscitate the victim.

Joshua N. McPeek was arrested early Wednesday morning. He appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.

The victim’s name was not immediately released by the Medical Examiner.
