The state’s largest teachers union is backing Lt. Gov. Josh Green for governor.
During a Friday news conference, the Hawaii State Teachers Association announced its support for Green, citing his record as a legislator and lieutenant governor.
HSTA president Osa Tui Jr. said Green has always listened to their concerns and advocated for efforts to advance public education and the well-being of teachers.
Earlier this month, the union announced it was supporting Sylvia Luke for lieutenant governor.
Tui said Luke has supported efforts to ensure school facility funds were used, and she has held department heads accountable as the House finance chair.
