University of Hawaiʻi officials have called timeout on all activities for the men’s basketball team because of COVID-19.

The Warriors’ Big West home opener versus UC Davis on Thursday, Dec. 30 has been canceled.

Hawaiʻi's Jan. 1 home game against UC Riverside was already canceled due to COVID issues in the Highlanders’ program.

Those games have been declared a no contest.

There is no indication when the pause in the men’s basketball program will be lifted.

University officials say season ticket holders will be offered a prorated refund or credit for any home games that are canceled this season. Single-game ticket holders will get a refund or credit toward another UH home game.

In other Hawaiʻi sports news, the EasyPost Hawaiʻi Bowl was canceled after the Hawaiʻi football team pulled out last week due to COVID.

Hawaiʻi athletic department spokesperson Derek Inouchi said about 30 football players and staff recently tested positive for COVID-19.
