New State Consumer Affairs Portal Allows Complaint Submissions Online

Hawaiʻi consumers can access a new online portal to file formal complaints against professional and vocational licensees as well as unlicensed persons.

This applies to workers regulated by the state, which include contractors, physicians, and car mechanics.

The Regulated Industries Complaints Office, under the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, launched the new portal that allows consumers to electronically file a complaint.

The process was previously carried out by printing and filling a paper form. The department said the new system will significantly reduce time for data entry, filing, and scanning.

Formal complaints will help the department monitor unlicensed employees working in under-regulated industries.
