HONOLULU — Honolulu police were seeking a gunman after a victim was injured in what may have been a road rage attack along a highway, officials said.

The 20-year-old victim was in stable condition after being taken to a hospital following the Wednesday shooting, news organizations reported.

Police were searching for a 22-year-old man they said fired several shots and then fled near an on-ramp to Pali Highway.

The victim was shot in his middle and lower body, authorities said.

The shooting may have been the result of a road rage altercation, reports said.

The case has been classified as an attempted second-degree murder and was under investigation, police said.

The Punchbowl ramps along the H-1 Freeway were closed during the investigation conducted along the shoulder of the road.

Rush-hour traffic was slowed for about two hours.
