Atherton Virtual Concerts Summer 2021

The magic of the Atherton Studio...now virtual!

HPR presents a virtual summer concert season featuring some of Hawaiʻi's best local musicians, livestreamed to your living room or mobile device. Join us wherever you happen to be, across the Hawaiian islands or beyond. These concerts are open to the public by RSVP only; they will not be streamed to Facebook or other public platforms. Upon registration, you'll receive an email confirming your spot with a link to the streaming platform. We recommend logging in to the platform 5-10 minutes prior to the event start time.

All concerts begin at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

May 29th – Jeff Peterson (HPR Members Only) - slack key guitar
Join Grammy and Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning slack key guitarist Jeff Peterson as he returns to the Atherton in a livestream performance featuring songs from his recent release “Mele Nahenahe” and music from his travels. The evening will be hosted by Derrick Malama of HPR's Kanikapila Sunday.

June 19th – Intoxika – exotica
The lush sounds of exotica return to the Atherton with Intoxika. A Honolulu based trio featuring vibraphonist Thomas Mackay, bassist Ernie Provencher, and percussionist Lopaka Colon who together present music made famous by artists like Cal Tjader, Martin Denny, and Arthur Lyman. This group has been wowing audiences all over the world this past year thanks to livestreaming and now you can enjoy them in the comfort of your own home.

July 24th – Sounds of Aloha Chorus - a capella vocal
No strangers to the Atherton studio, the Sounds of Aloha Chorus returns with a livestream performance featuring several of their quartets, all performing in their signature a capella singing style. They'll perform barbershop standards and some things you might not expect from the tradition of barbershop singing.

July 31st - Henri Herbert - The History of Boogie Woogie Piano
Henri Herbert is a piano-playing phenomenon. With over 100 million Youtube views, he tours all over the world and is fast becoming one of the foremost boogie woogie and blues piano players of his generation. For his HPR livestream, Henri will deliver his typical high-energy, invigorating show while taking the audience on a ride through the history of boogie-woogie piano music.

August 14th – Nā ʻUkulele ʻEkolu – Hawaiian/contemporary
It’s the Atherton debut for a relatively new group comprised of veteran performers. Ukulele power trio Nā ʻUkulele ʻEkolu features Bryan Tolentino, Halehaku Seabury, and Kama Hopkins. And to round out the performance they’ll feature a special guest to share the amazing capabilities of the ukulele in traditional and contemporary settings.
