This week on Helping Hand we’re learning about the Adopt a Family program from Helping Hands Hawaii. Join All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence as he speaks with Helping Hands Hawaii President and CEO Jan Harada. Adopt a Family links individuals and families in need with donors in the community who participate by adopting a family that is facing poverty, battling illnesses, recovering from domestic violence, suffering from severe mental health challenges, enduring homelessness.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature airing statewide on HPR1 stations each Friday as part of our afternoon drive broadcast of All Things Considered, and then appearing online here, where all of our Helping Hand segments and resources are archived online. Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event that offers assistance to people with disabilities and people and animals that are among the most vulnerable.
