HPR's All Things Considered Special Guest: 10,000 Maniacs

Don Hill

Tomorrow and Sunday at 6:30 and 9 p.m., 10,000 Maniacs make their Hawaii debut with concerts at the Blue Note Hawaii. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence spoke with original member, co-founder and keyboardist Dennis Drew. Retaining most of their original or longtime members, they’ve got a steady line-up: incredible singer/violinist Mary Ramsey has been fronting the band for two and a half decades, and was actually a back-up singer for a time during their Natalie Merchant years, and Dennis describes her as a friend of Natalie’s. 10,000 Maniacs continue to have a strong connection to late guitarist Rob Buck, as his former guitar tech, Jeff Ericson, has been in the group close to twenty years now. In this interview, we'll learn how they've also had a close relationship to radio right from the beginning.
