HPR's All Things Considered Special Guest: Paul Simon

facebook.com/paulsimon

Today, legendary musician Paul Simon joined HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence to talk about his pair of benefit concerts on Maui next week. At the MACC this coming Tuesday and Wednesday, August 13th and 14th, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member will perform and donate the net proceeds from both shows to a pair of local conservation nonprofits, the Auwahi Forest Restoration Project, and KUA, Kua Aina Ulu Auamo.

Conservation is a regular topic on HPR’s All Things Considered: things like the existential crises driving the extinction of elephants, rhinos, tigers and other animals targeted by Asia Pacific consumers, to the plight of marine animals swimming in oceans filled with plastics, other debris and discarded fishing gear, to the range of animals and plants in the Hawaiian Islands that are extinct or endangered. Today Paul Simon joined that discussion, and explained why he’s so passionate about conservation, and in particular, supporting efforts to reforest Maui and protect vulnerable plants and animals here in Hawaii.
