HPR's ATC Tribute to Parliament / Funkadelic legend Bernie Worrell

Faye Archambeau

Today on All Things Considered during the statewide afternoon drive broadcast on HPR1, we offer a tribute to a music legend. A week ago today, the world lost one of the architects of funk, keyboardist/songwriter/arranger Bernie Worrell. The vet of Parliament / Funkadelic, Talking Heads and numerous other professional appearances was 72 and passed on due to lung cancer. In January 2011, the funk pioneer sat down with HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence at All-Star Music Empire in New Jersey, his home state, for a conversation. This feature includes highlights and a glimpse into his remarkable life.
