Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are characters in William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. As the protagonists of Tom Stoppard's 1966 play, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern two minor characters from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” as they journey toward their deaths without understanding their own roles in the play. Childhood friends of Hamlet, they are summoned by King Claudius to ascertain the cause of Hamlet’s madness.
The play is primarily a comedy, but it explores themes of fate, free will, and the absurdity of human existence through the characters' confusion. Their journey is marked by bizarre events, such as a coin-tossing episode where heads always land and an encounter with a Player and his theatrical troupe, who offer glimpses of a world beyond their own.
Celaney Carpenter and Theon Weber take on the roles of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern respectively. Bruce Mirken is The Player who leads the Tragedians played by Zade Hinch, Zerro Hinch, Khalil Imagire, Mark Rawlings and Elizabeth Young. The Dane royals are portrayed by Allan Anderson, Stephen Bond, Debbie Campbell, Ariana Kelley, and Joel Kelley. The show is being directed by Suzi Bond.
