Lā'au Lapa'au Garden Tour & Philippine Plant Medicine Workshop at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens
Presented by Maui Public Art Corps, this special event invites participants to explore ancestral knowledge and cultural healing through a guided lā‘au lapa‘au garden tour and Philippine plant medicine workshop at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. Led by herbalist Namea Hoshino and Filipina cultural practitioner Nicolita Garces, the program introduces Hawaiian and Filipino approaches to plant-based healing, wellness, and land stewardship. This cross-cultural dialogue reflects the shared themes of Jay Gilleard’s mural project at nearby UH Maui College, which explores memory, land-based identity, queer lineage and intergenerational healing. Free and open to the public, this gathering offers a unique opportunity to learn from cultural knowledge keepers and contribute to the broader story of community connection through public art. RSVP required https://tinyurl.com/29d6vncf. Attendance limited to 40 participants.
