Hawaii Stitchery & Fibre Arts Guild presents: Behind the Seams...A Peek into Garment Manufacturing in Hawaii
HSFAG board members Joy Nagaue and Lei Batty, along with videographer Doug Nam, recently took a tour of some of Hawaii’s mass market garment makers. We now have an exclusive and rare opportunity to view the inner workings of Hawaii’s fashion industry. The tour started with a visit to Honolulu Community College’s Fashion Technology Program and proceeded to visits with a local designer, manufacturer and contractor. The video presentation includes interviews and scenes from Tori Richard, Puka Prints, and a local sewing contractor.
Entrepreneur’s Sandbox has a HUGE screen so everyone viewing this mini documentary will have a front row seat. A brief in-person fashion show and talk story session with local designers Daneen Lum of Manuheali’I and May Young of Mae Young Designs will also be part of this program.
