Disability Studies Film Festival
Disability Studies Film Festival
In a partnership between The UH Disability Studies Initiative, The Developmental Disabilities Division,
The Hawai`i State Council on Developmental Disabilities, The Center on Disability Studies (CDS),
College of Education, University of Hawai`i at Mānoa, and The Self Advocacy Advisory Council, we are delighted to host the first Disability Studies Film Festival.
It is a free event for anyone to participate in. It will be held both virtual and in-person at the UH Manoa John F. Kennedy Theatre. We will be showing three short films, "The Interviewer" (dir. Genevieve Clay-Smith and Robin Bryan), "My Disability RoadMap," (dir. Samuel and Dan Habib), and "Kū Kanaka/Stand Tall" (dir. Marlene Booth). All three films focus on disability experiences, self-advocacy and leadership skills.
We will also have special guest speakers Gerard O’Dwyer, the actor from “The Interviewer,” and Marlene Booth, the Director of Kū Kanaka. After our speakers present, there will be a Q&A portion of the event so that the audience can ask any questions they may have.
Please register through our EventBrite link. We look forward to seeing you there!
