Aʻo Aku, Aʻo Mai: Kloe Kang & Yumiko Glover

Aʻo Aku, Aʻo Mai: Kloe Kang & Yumiko Glover

Koa Gallery, Kapi‘olani Community College is pleased to partner with ARS Cafe in support of art, education, and community: collaborate on a year-long exhibition series: the fourth exhibition, Un / Folded / Layered, in this year-long series presents new drawings and paintings by Kloe Kang and Yumiko Glover: Recognizing the ways in which teaching and learning—a‘o aku, a‘o mai—are mutually interdependent, each installation at ARS Cafe highlights the work of a Kapi‘olani CC Art educator and student. This community partnership brings attention to inter-generational relationships that develop within supportive learning environments and the importance of arts education in society. - Kloe Kang is an artist and educator living and working in Honolulu. Her current series Drawing Project is based on Google Maps imagery and street sketches. It is comprised of mixed media works in acrylic, ink, and oil on mylar and canvas. - Yumiko Glover is an artist and educator based in California and Oʻahu. Born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan, her work reflects on the Japanese philosophy of transience which holds that basic reality is always in a state of change. Her current series Unfold explores shapes and forms of an unfolded origami crane, a well known symbol of hope and healing during challenging times.
