Yesterday, a listener called the station to tell me that he had really loved the particular version of Borodin's Polovtsian Dances I had played a couple of weeks ago, and asked if I might play it again. That set me to thinking that when I like a piece of classical music, I do tend to play it often until it's settled in my bones. So today and tomorrow, I'm going to replay a few of the works I've played for you in the past six months since I came to HPR. I will definitely play the Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor, performed by the Philharmonica Hungarica, and other works that have caught my interest or been commented on by listeners.
By the way, Humphrey Bogart did not say "Play it again, Sam" in Casablanca. He actually said, "You played it for her, you can play it for me . . . if she can stand it, I can. Play it!" However, that doesn't make a good soundbite.
