Helping Hand - August 7, 2015 complete interview with National Federation of the Blind

This week we’re welcoming back returning guests the National Federation of the Blind of Hawai‘i. The National Federation of the Blind of Hawai'i is made up of members of our community who are blind, helping other blind people and the general public with networking, advocacy and other invaluable resources on issues relating to their integration into the community. Today HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence welcomes back National Federation of the Blind Chapter President Virgil Stinnett and his wife Local Affiliate Secretary Katie Keim. They recently attended the national convention, taking with them some local parents of young children facing blindness. Joining them today on Helping Hand, we are welcoming new guests they’ve brought along, Rachel Awa and her two-year old daughter Aureliah.

Helping Hand is a weekly feature airing on HPR1 stations statewide each Friday afternoon on All Things Considered, and online here, in our online database of resources. Each week, Helping Hand connects with an organization, event or topic in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need.
