  The State Department of Health is holding a public hearing in Hilo on Wednesday regarding thefuture of a new power plant. That facility on the Hamakua Coast would burn eucalyptus trees to generate electricity. Some say that its renewable energy, others say “not so fast.” HPR’s Ryan Finnerty tells us more.

  On Nov. 20th --a week from today-- groups across the country will remember those who died in acts of anti-transgender violence. The Transgender Day of Remembrance follows Transgender Awareness week.The state health department recently released a report on transgender issues--the first of its kind. Rat Lung Worm in School Gardens

  The number of Rat Lungworm cases inched up this month by two more. Officials are doing more to reach out in the community emphasizing Food Safety. Last month we looked at new guidelines circulating to help the medical community identify new cases. Today we focus on school gardens as they are becoming more popular across the state.
