This week on Helping Hand, HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Barbara Fischlowitz-Leong, President and CEO of the Assistive Technology Resource Centers of Hawaii, or the ATRC. It’s week two of organizations that can offer critical resources to people with disabilities and often field difficult questions regarding trying to get specific services or assistance with mobility challenges. The ATRC links people with technology and programs geared to educate individuals with disabilities, their loved ones, professionals and institutions. They are the State of Hawaii's designated Assistive Technology Act agency, and have an open house this coming Tuesday, February 13, 9 to 11 a.m. at their offices in Honolulu.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR1 stations each Friday and online here. Helping Hand puts the spotlight on a topic, organization or event that helps people with disabilities and those among the most vulnerable.
