Around 20,000 people work or attend school on the University of Hawaii’s flagship Manoa campus. There are only 5,000 parking spots on that campus, setting up a classic scarcity problem.

The Honolulu City Council says parking is the number one complaint across the island in all the districts. That is why councilmember Carol Fukunaga has cracked down with a bill that regulates commercial vehicles in residential neighborhoods.

Housing prices across the state continue to rise. While there are monthly fluctuations, the long term trend is definitely toward higher prices.
