The first 2 trains for O’ahu’s rail transit system arrived today at Honolulu Harbor.  They cost about 2.2 million dollars each and are being shipped from Italy to Hawai’i.  Mayor Kirk Caldwell was pier-side to announce their arrival.

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation has ordered 80 trains, total.   They all feature surf board and bicycle racks, wheel chair clamp-downs and Wi-Fi service.  The next two trains arrive Sunday to complete the 4-car configuration.  They will undergo testing at the Operations Center in Waipahu.
