And now an update from H?k?le‘a and Hikianalia. The sister canoes are on their way to the last stop of this leg of their journey around the world…New Zealand, or Aotearoa. HPR’s Molly Solomon checked in with Ka‘iulani Murphy, a learning navigator on board H?k?le‘a, as part of our ongoing series, H?k?le‘a: Voyage of Aloha.
The 1,500 nautical mile trip across the Pacific marks the first time H?k?le‘a has returned to New Zealand since 1985. Following a welcoming ceremony in Aotearoa, the next crew will continue on to Auckland.
