Amid all the high-rise developments in Kaka’ako, one property owner has decided to turn the clock back 90 years. HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.   

 

 

 

The Dearborn Chemical Company Warehouse was built in 1928 on Ward Avenue, between Waimanu and Kawai’ahao Streets. 

Dearborn 535 LLC is requesting a building permit to spend $5 million to restore the property to its original 1928 configuration.  Jenna Wells is Dearborn’s executive director.

The state conducted another public hearing for its proposed rule changes for workforce and reserved housing in Kaka’ako. But, as HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports, developers and community groups disagree on the way forward.

The Hawai’i Community Development Authority reviewed plans for another major development project in Kaka’ako yesterday…this one across South Street from the Circuit Court Building parking garage.   As HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports, the latest proposal is a complex venture involving two commercial builders and the Honolulu rail transit project.
