The Mid-Pacific School of the Arts (MPSA) is thrilled to present Antigone, a timeless Greek tragedy by Sophocles. Directed by CoCo Wiel and translated by Dudley Fitts & Robert Fitzgerald, Antigone delves into the powerful themes of loyalty, justice, and fate. The story begins after the deaths of Eteocles and Polyneices, sons of King Oedipus, who died fighting on opposite sides. Creon, the new king, declares that Eteocles will be honored with a soldier's burial, while Polyneices, deemed a traitor, is to be left unburied. Antigone, defying Creon's decree, buries her brother Polyneices, leading to a tragic chain of events that questions authority and the conflict between human law and divine will.
