Abandoned buildings, urban blight, it’s common knowledge now that undesirable neighborhoods with low rental rates attract artists and creatives.   What tends to follow, are eating places, galleries, bars---and gentrification, which ends up pushing the artists out.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports, an 84 unit, affordable, live/work rental space for artists is coming up in Kaka‘ako.

Ward Warehouse is set to close in August to make way for a luxury high rise project. Many popular shops like Eden in Love and MORI by Art + Flea, will relocate to other Ward properties. HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports Na Mea Hawai‘i/Native Books is having a blast until the closing moment.

Atherton Season – Winter 2017-2018

Mar 28, 2016

Welcome to HPR’s Atherton Performing Arts Studio

The Atherton Studio seats 60 to 75 people and is home to a magnificent Bösendorfer concert grand piano. The intimate performances are like sitting in on a private studio recording session, and the shows themselves are taped for re-broadcast on our live music show Applause in a Small Room hosted by our sound engineer Jason Taglianetti.

All concerts are on Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm unless otherwise noted.
