HILO — A pair of bills introduced in Hawaii would remove restrictions on wild pig hunting on the Big Island to control the feral pig population and protect local plant life.

Hunting for sport and subsistence is popular on the neighbor islands and rural Oahu where wild game is more plentiful and accessible. A number of lawmakers are supporting a measure this session to preserve land set aside for Hawai’i’s hunters. HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.
