Some think he has the race all sewn up. And while Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell hopes that's true, whoever is declared Mayor on Nov 8 will still have to face the issues voters want fixed. This afternoon on Town Square an open line to Kirk Caldwell.

There are no televised debates scheduled for the race for Honolulu Mayor.   But there are a number of allegations from the two leading candidates that should be checked for accuracy.   HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka is doing that, beginning with this report.

More than half of O’ahu voters are expected to mail in their absentee ballots or do early walk-in voting before this Saturday’s primary election.   That means the stakes are still high in the race for Honolulu Mayor.   HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports. 

The Rotary Club of Honolulu hosted a forum for the race for Honolulu Mayor today.  It featured three candidates.   HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.

There are 8 candidates running for Honolulu Mayor who have never been elected to public office.    HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka contacted them and 3 agreed to be interviewed.

Honolulu’s Mayor has been engaged in an ongoing verbal battle with the Chair of the nine-member City Council.   Their latest exchange was over the City’s 2-billion dollar budget which passed without the Mayor’s signature.  As HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports, this could be only the beginning of a long political rivalry.
