Harrison Patino

In the world of butchery, the "off cuts" are the harder to find or less desirable cuts that prove just as juicy and just as desirable when given the proper appreciation. I'd like to think the same goes for music, so tonight we'll be playing some musical off cuts: lesser known tracks by well known artists and really great tracks by artists that are virtually unknown in the mainstream.

Harrison Patiño pays homage to the great New Orleans pianist Malcom John Rebennack known to the world as Dr. John who died today at 77.  As a tribute to the renowned musician a handful of best and most intriguing tracks interspersed with a variety of iconic New Orleans music... from dixieland to second line brass bands.

It my not be summertime... yet.  But the uptick in temperature has our DJ-in-Training, Harrison Patiño is playing upbeat indie, world and eclectic tunes to beat the heat.

Happy Friday to you! If you're a regular listener to Bridging the Gap, you've noticed a few new voices on the air. We're adding two new DJs to the late night airwaves. Paige Okamura, better known as DJ Mermaid from KTUH will be taking over Tuesday nights, and tonight I'm introducing Harrison Patiño (also from KTUH). He'll eventually be taking over Thursday evenings... but for now is just taking over the second hour of the show.
