The state of Hawai‘i has the most ambitious renewable energy goals in the country—with a goal of using 100-percent renewable energy by the year 2045. Part of that mix is geothermal power—which is also a growing part of the energy picture in Indonesia.  HPR’s Bill Dorman has more in today’s Asia Minute.

Researchers in Hawaii are planning more studies this year on geothermal energy. Right now, the only working geothermal projects are on the Big Island. But Maui and parts of Oahu are also under review for potential exploration. Geothermal energy is also a topic of interest in Japan…and government officials are extending that interest to Africa.
