That’s the business of UHERO, the University of Hawaii’s Economic research organization, which has just released a county-by-county report on the state’s economy. Hashtag I am bad at this is their latest offering, tracing current trends in communication and the fallout from an overdependence on technological devices, including the smartphones we all know and love. As a result, the differences run deep, and the East-West Center has led an effort to enhance the dialogue between them. Each has much to learn from the other. The Center is the site of the 11th East-West Philosophers’ Conference, which begins tomorrow on the UH Campus with more than 300 participants from some 40 countries.
