UHERO County Economic Forecast: Dr. Carl Bonham

Hawaii’s economy is, and always will be dependent on outside forces our physical isolation and the importance of tourism to the local economy mean we need to keep a close eye on trends far from home as well as those close at hand. That’s the business of UHERO, the University of Hawaii’s Economic research organization, which has just released a county-by-county report on the state’s economy. Dr. Carl Bonham is the UH Economic Research Organization's Executive Director, and he’s with us this morning.

Changing Our Environments/Other Issues Related to Place: Roger Amos

The philosophies of East and West developed for centuries without much awareness of one another -- ether of their differences or their similarities. As a result, the differences run deep, and the East-West Center has led an effort to enhance the dialogue between them. Each has much to learn from the other. The Center is the site of the 11th East-West Philosophers’ Conference, which begins tomorrow on the UH Campus with more than 300 participants from some 40 countries. For UH Chinese Philosophy Professor Roger Ames, it’s the culmination of a 38-year career at UH, and he’s on the line with us now.
