Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser — in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.” Those words -which may or may not have actually been delivered -still resonate with lawyers advocating for mediation- including Maryann Sasaki. She’s an associate at Clay Chapman, IwamuraPulice and Nervell and in an article she co-wrote for this month’s Hawaii Bar Journal makes the case for mediation.

Intro Music: Can’t Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake

Outro Music: Meditation by Yoga Soul

Shane Koyczan, Award-winning Spoken Word Artist

(Wikipedia)

Schoolyard Bullies quickly learn that one of the fastest ways to injure their victims is not with punches, but with words. Mental bruises linger long after blows to the body have healed. Our next guest knows this first hand, and he’s been working for years to shake off the results of childhood verbal assaults. You might even say that he's earned a black belt in spoken self defense. Word Artist Slam Poet Shane Koyczan and his poem “To This Day” have received millions of hits on YouTube. And in the island's it can be fun experience listening to that voice struggle with Hawaii place names. But do we rely too much on this artificial navigator whose history most of us barely understand? New York based writer Greg Milner considers the development of GPS - and how it's changing our lives in his new book, Pinpoint.
