Kanikapila Sunday with Derrick Malama - November 26, 2017

Kanikapila Sunday features three hours of Great Hawaiian Music, including contemporary, traditional and hapa haole songs. You'll also hear slack key guitar and `ukulele instrumentals. Plus, the Kanikapila Sunday Classic! Tune in every Sunday with host Derrick Malama from 1:00-4:00 PM Hawai`i Time on HPR-1.

On today's show, we'll play a few songs for the holiday season, starting with Amy Hanaiali'i and the Hawaiian language version of 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing.' Sprinkled throughout the show, you'll hear holiday music from Henry Kapono, Raiatea Helm with a Kanikapila Sunday exclusive, the Brothers Cazimero, Kupaoa, the Makaha Sons, Willie K and Eddie Kamae & the Sons of Hawai'i.

The trio of Keauhou will also perform, plus Napua, Weldon Kekauoha, Mark Yamanaka, HAPA ('Manoa in the Rain'), Kawika Kahiapo, Darlene Ahuna, and Keali'i Reichel.

The late Kawai Cockett sings his version of the catchy tune 'Lae Lae' in Hour Two, along with music from Sean Na'auao, Natalie Ai Kamauu, Kuana Torres Kahele, the Maui trio of Na Hoa, an award-winning song from John Cruz, plus Na Leo sings the Andy Cummiings' classic 'Waikiki.'

In Hour Three, tune in for the new duo of Kamanawa, the Ka'au Crater Boys ('Wahine 'Ilikea'), Dennis Pavao ('Puamana'), Teresa Bright, the Brothers Cazimero, and a Kanikapila Sunday Classic from Gabby Pahinui!
