Virtual Kahoolawe Museum Will Preserve Artifacts Online

Flickr / University of Hawaii Museum — A warning sign on Kahoolawe, which was used as a military bombing range for more than fifty years until they were halted in 1990. Parts of the island are still not cleaned up and are not safe to walk through.

This year hundreds of thousands of historic documents relating to Kaho‘olawe will be published in an online database. Hawaii Public Radio's Molly Solomon has more on preservation efforts that are going digital.

You can get involved in the Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission's Virtual Museum Pilot Program by taking a quick survey on what type of artifacts and images you'd like to see.
