Talking Story with Chris Squire: An HPR Tribute to the Yes bassist

courtesy chrissquire.com

This past weekend, a musical giant passed on. Bassist Chris Squire – founding member of English rock band Yes – passed away Sunday, a month after announcing that he was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. He was 67, and the British bass legend passed at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Chris had performed on every Yes studio album, and was not just a fixture in the band, but legendary throughout the world of music for his talent. Also known by his nickname, Fish, Chris Squire took time for a phone call with HPR in March 2012, speaking with All Things Considered Honolulu Host Dave Lawrence ahead of a Yes tour of the state. We celebrate his life and music by reflecting on this conversation with him.

Dave Lawrence is the local host of All Things Considered, Road Stories (formerly Off the Road) and Stargazer.
