State health officials say the outbreak of Dengue Fever could last for months and are urging the public to take precautions.

The number of confirmed cases on Hawai‘i island has now risen to 88 as the infection hotspot has moved from South Kona to Ka’u.

Beginning this weekend workers will begin spraying insecticide in Kona and Hilo around schools and areas where infections have been reported.  But officials say the real effort begins at home – where people are being advised to wear mosquito-protective clothing and use bug spray.

With wet weather expected this weekend- residents are urged to be more vigilant in pouring out any pooling or standing water where mosquitoes could breed.  In a news conference Gov. David Ige said the National Guard is available if needed.

Up to date information on infection and prevention can be found at the Department of Health’s Website.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
