A group is working to put a female face onto the $20 bill.

“Women on 20’s” launched a website that lets people vote for a number of women that fought for equal rights. The campaign has since gone viral on the internet and Facebook, collecting more than 25,000 votes since launching a week ago.

One of the candidates is Hawaii’s own Patsy Mink who may be best remembered for her role in creating the Title IX bill that ended sex discrimination in athletics and education.

As for changing the design of US currency, its design can be changed simply by an order from the president. Barbra Ortiz Howard is the founder of Women on 20’s. She says the campaign is to educate the public about women’s history as much as it’s about the money.

Howard says they’ll take the results to the President when more than 100,000 votes have been collected.

You can see the list of candidates and vote at womenon20s.org

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
