Landscape Industry Utilizing Native Species: Chris Dacus
Chris Dacus has been practicing landscape architecture since 1987 and has been a resident of Hawaii since 1993. He is the current state landscape architect for the State Department of Transportation Highways Division and is responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of 2,500 miles of state roadsides. He has served on the Hawaii ASLA board since 2004.
Kennedy Theatre “Identity Crisis”: Kathryn Holt
Kathryn Holt is a Master of Arts student in the Dance Department at UH Manoa. She is the director of the first Late Night Theatre production of the Fall semester, a dance concert titled Identity Crisis. The production features dances by Holt and 5 other student choreographers centered on the theme of identity. The show opens Friday September 27 at 11pm, and will have only 4 performances.
National GEAR UP Week: Juanito Moises
Juanito Moises is the 2013 GEAR UP Youth of the Year. He’s a senior at Waipahu High School. He is also president of Waipahu’s Skills USA, president of Science Olympiad and a National Honor Society member. He participates in cross country and springtime track and field – all while maintaining a 3.98 grade-point average.
Waikiki Aloha Live: Jordan Segundo
Jordan Segundo is Hawaii’s first American Idol finalist, and in addition to being a regular commentator on KHON 2, he’s also the vocalist for Aloha Live, a show on the scenic pool deck of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikiki.
