UPDATE 8/23/18: This weekend’s Atherton concert by Kailua Moon has been postponed. A musical evening with the duo has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 15th in HPR’s Atherton Studio. TICKET HOLDERS to KAILUA MOON: your tickets will be honored on this new date of September 15th, or you may apply it to any other Atherton concert in the remaining summer season or the upcoming winter season. The duo Kailua Moon deliver their fresh take on traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music, as well as on genres from folk to pop in the Atherton Studio on September 15. HPR welcomes the return of Danny Carvalho, who makes up half of this new band. His slack key virtuosity is familiar to public radio audiences having performed previously in the Atherton, as well as at the live tapings in Honolulu of From The Top (2004) and A Prairie Home Companion (2006 and 2011). For Kailua Moon, Carvalho pairs with singer-songwriter-hula dancer Nani Edgar.
Reservations may be made online at www.hprtickets.org or by calling the station (955-8821) during regular business hours. Tickets are $25 general, $20 for HPR members, and $15 for students with ID; online service fees apply. The Atherton Studio is located at Hawaiʻi Public Radio, 738 Kāheka Street. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; music begins at 7:30 p.m.
