Later this month, the Hawaii Tourism Authority will release year-end figures on visitor arrivals for 2013. Through the first eleven months, visitors from Japan were up slightly, but they didn’t stay as long as they did a year earlier…and they spent less each day. Still, Japan remains the most important international market for Hawaii visitors. And that means state officials keep a close eye on the latest economic news from Tokyo.
