This week Helping Hand welcomes back the innovative local nonprofit Access Surf, that empowers people with disabilities by providing adaptive surfing instruction and therapeutic educational programs on water recreation. We hear about their monthly free beach gatherings for the general disabled population and their loved ones, as well as programs for wounded warriors, and the many ways they could use community support, as HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Access Surf Program Coordinator Cara Short.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR1 stations every Friday afternoon and then archived online here. Each week, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization topic or event that offers assistance to the disabled and others among the most vulnerable.
