Fall Fund Drive Concluded October 4

Hawai?i Public Radio’s Fall Fund Drive ended on the scheduled tenth day of the campaign October 4, 2019. The fundraiser collected $761,652 in contributions from donors residing in Hawai?i, on the mainland, and around the world. 812 of those gifts were from first-time supporters.

This was accomplished within a reduced fundraising schedule; thanks to the ongoing support of Sustaining Members, the station was able to give 42 hours of uninterrupted listening back to listeners over the course of the ten-day on-air drive.

“We're grateful to our Sustaining Members, who give HPR the financial stability to provide two streams around the clock across the state,” said José A. Fajardo, the station’s president and general manager. “Now, with more than 800 new members, we're able to plan for future growth, especially in our local news coverage.”

Over 300 volunteers from more than 40 Hawai?i businesses and organizations along with HPR Sustaining Members staffed the station’s phone banks daily during the campaign. Meals and snacks were provided by Foodland Farms Ala Moana, Zippy’s, and Uncle's Handmade Ice Cream.

Pledge drives are key to HPR’s financial well-being, as 94% of the station’s funding comes from the community. Only 6% of the station’s funds are from federal sources, via the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Although the drive has concluded, contributions are always gratefully welcome at members.hawaiipublicradio.org, as well as through the free "hpr" mobile app.
