EPA Posts Information on Red Hill Fuel Storage

The Environmental Protection Agency is taking the next step in addressing questions about the Navy’s Red Hill fuel storage facility.  More than 140 comments were received during the public comment period over the Navy’s Administrative Order on Consent to repair and maintain the facility.  Early last year an estimated 27-thousand gallons of jet fuel leaked from the tanks, igniting concerns about threats to drinking water.

The EPA has posted the public comments and a section of “frequently asked questions” to help the public understand the AOC agreement.  Dean Higuchi is a press officer for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region-Nine.

Higuchi says the next step will to review the comments, and decide whether or not to accept the draft of the Administrative Order on Consent.

The public comments and FAQ can be found at on the EPA’s website or Department of Health’s Website.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
