A highly contagious and deadly virus has been discovered in a number of cats on Maui. Officials are advising owners and cat lovers to get their pets vaccinated as soon as possible. Eileen Chao has more from the Maui News.
Cats took center stage this summer at the Walker Art Center’s Internet Cat Video Festival in Minneapolis. Over 10,000 people turned up. It was such a success, organizers decided to take it on the road for a 20-city tour, with Honolulu being its first stop. HPR’s Molly Solomon has more.
W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan already had a string of hits to their credit when they pulled out the stops for The Mikado. First performed in March of 1885, by the end of that year, The Mikado was being staged by 150 companies in Europe and the US, and its popularity continues. Cage the Elephant have a new album and tour. While no area dates have been announced so far, the Kentucky band played Honolulu in February 2012, when singer Matt Shultz spoke with HPR after the show.
